The ultimate Bitaxe cooling solution: The Bitaxe and Chill MODIFIED 52pi Low-Profile heatsink.
This product has been adapted from its original use on the Raspberry Pi 5. It is the highest performing heatsink on the market. It has a very large contact block, four copper heat-transfer tubes, and a massive heat exchanger.
BUT WAIT, IT GETS BETTER
I take the standard 52pi Low-Profile heatsink, then optimize it exclusively for Bitaxe application. The thermal interface surface was orignally designed for use with a thick thermal adhesive pad. Thus the surface finish, alignment, and flatness was not important.
However, when using it with copper shims, an Integrated Heat Spreader (as found in the BM1370 ASIC on the Bitaxe Gamma), and thermal compound, surface finish and flatness is absolutely critical. I lap the contact block and all four copper heat pipes to much greater flatness, then finish to an optimal surface roughness for maximum heat transfer and thermal compound effectiveness.
I supply a 1.5mm thick copper plate which is large enough to span all four heat pipes. I also lap and polish both sides to absolute flatness. This allows the ASIC heat to optimally migrate to all heat pipes, and eliminates the need for multiple shims, which are difficult to align, and will never be exactly the same thickness.
All hardware is included to mount the 52pi Low-Profile heatsink to your Bitaxe Gamma, including custom Bitaxe and Chill PETG mounting rails with brass inserts and quality stainless steel capscrews. Much stronger, easier to install, and a guaranteed fit versus some of the free downloadable designs. I include all the original 52pi mounting hardware and the tiny factory fan.
Note that due to 52pi factory production processes beyond my control, there is a certain amount of 'unsquareness' :) in this amazing product. It does not affect cooling performance in any way (maybe it makes it better :). Just note that there will be expanded tolerances in the heatblock to fin plane angle, the heatblock mounting to fin pack rotation angle, the exposure distance of each of the copper tubes, and other asymmetries. The Giant Squid has been designed with expanded tolerances to accommodate the variability, and will provide maximum performance regardless!
With a Stage 3 Cooling Upgrade you can generally expect a 100-150% improvement in cooling and over-clocking (vs default settings, with a Giant Squid).
For example:
A very quiet, single-fan solution:
2.2-2.5 TH/s sustained hashrate
- Bitaxe and Chill modified 52pi Low-Profile Heatsink
- Giant Squid (52pi model)
- Noctua NF-A12x25 FLX (12V)
*2.24 TH/s avg., 1100 MHz, 1355mV, 62C ASIC, 68C VR (at 22C ambient)
